The music man

Dan Rather, whose news credentials are questioned in the feature film "Truth," shows off his lighter side in a new edition of "The Big Interview" in which he sits down with Heart, a duo that, like Rather, had better days in the 1980s. Later this season, the inspiration behind "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" chats with Gregg Allman, Bryan Adams and Quentin Tarantino. 7 p.m. AXS TV

Big wheels

"The Voice" may not be making stars, but it sure can attract them. The series, which recently won an Emmy, welcomes consultants Missy Elliott, Selena Gomez, Brad Paisley and John Fogerty — who teaches contestants that the proper way to pronounce "turning," at least when it comes to the Proud Mary, is "toyning." 8 p.m. KARE, Ch. 11

Confidence builder

Now that Demi Lovato is done being "cool for the summer," she's ready to tap her dark side on "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series." She plays the sultry sidekick of Wilmer Valderrama, who happens to be her boyfriend in real life. Producer Robert Rodriguez thanked the pop star by directing her new video, "Confident." 8 p.m. El Rey Network
