Neal Justin's TV picks for July 9-13: 'The Nineties,' 'Salvation,' 'I'm Sorry'
CNN's latest history course may be called "The Nineties," but it's slapped together with 1980s MTV attitude, moving at such a fast clip that viewers may think they've been propelled into the 21st century. Episode 1, "The One About TV," crams in everything from "Twin Peaks" to "Beavis and Butt-Head" with barely enough time for a coffee break with "Friends" at Central Perk.

The sky is falling
Pretty people, including St. Paul native Ian Anthony Dale, are the only ones who can save the world from an incoming asteroid in "Salvation," a new drama that's not quite compelling enough to merit a slot in the fall schedule. But it should appeal to doomsday theorists who refuse to take the summer off.
8 p.m. Wed., WCCO, Ch. 4
No apologies
Andy Samberg and Will Ferrell are big enough supporters of Andrea Savage to put their names on her new series, "I'm Sorry." You'll join the fan club as well after watching the first few episodes of this "Curb Your Enthusiasm"-type comedy. Savage plays a mother who reacts to her child spewing racially insensitive comments and discovering her neighbor was once a porn star by sticking both feet in her mouth.
9 p.m. Wed., TruTV
