Sympathy for the devil

Those who rooted for Walter White in "Breaking Bad" until the bitter end will have no problem feeling the love for the title character in "Lucifer," a new procedural in which the oh-so-misunderstood Dark Lord uses his powers of deduction and seduction to — wait for it — solve crime. Tom Ellis plays the lil' devil on the wings of a Welsh accent and a laid-back attitude that suggest hell is more of a hoot than a weekend in Sin City. 8 p.m. KMSP, Ch. 9

Overdose

Kicking a drug or alcohol addiction is a breeze, as long as you check into a rehab center like the one in "Recovery Road," a well-meaning but ultimately disappointing attempt to shed light on teen recovery, with Jessica Sula fighting tooth and manicured nail against treatment. Despite the use of professional consultants, including Patrick Krill, director of Halzelden Betty Ford's legal professionals program, the soapie drama comes across like a very special season of "The Real World," albeit one without a stocked bar and a hot tub. 8 p.m. Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family)

Hocus-pocus

Goodbye, Harry. Hello, Quentin Coldwater? Those familiar with Lev Grossman's bestselling books "The Magicians" will feel comfortable enrolling in Brakebills University, where angst trumps potions. Others may find the curriculum a little underwhelming. 8 p.m. Syfy
