House (re-)warming
The decision by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen not to check into "Fuller House," the reboot of the series that made them famous, is dealt with in a wink to the camera that feels as forced as the scene in which the cast dances to New Kids on the Block. Brush aside the obligatory cameos from the rest of the veterans, and you've got a decent enough sitcom about a stitched-together contemporary family, now led by Candace Cameron Bure, who does a nice job pretending to still be charmed by John Stamos' Elvis impression. Piano man
Airing on his 88th birthday, "Fats Domino and the Birth of Rock 'N' Roll" examines how the New Orleans pianist found his thrills on Blueberry Hill and beyond. The documentary, narrated by Clarke Peters ("The Wire") is short on big names, which is a shame considering Domino's heavy influence on the genre. 9 p.m. Friday, TPT Ch. 2
Carpetbagger
Ryan Seacrest celebrates his 10th anniversary with E! by once again controlling the chaos that is "Countdown to the Red Carpet: The 2016 Oscars," where the interviews have become more unpredictable, and often more entertaining, than the actual event. Seacrest may not be as funny as Joan Rivers, but at least he knows his limitations. 12:30 p.m. Sunday, E! More extensive red-carpet coverage begins at 4:30 p.m.
Draft day
"Rough Draft With Reza Aslan" allows the bestselling author ("Zealot") to play interviewer, a role he's only successful at if you like your journalism served up with a rah-rah enthusiasm. Norman Lear and "Transparent" Jill Soloway are the objects of his affection in early episodes. 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Ovation
