Senior prom

Grandpa sure is getting a lot of love on ABC's Wednesday night comedy line-up. Making the most out of their golden years: Ed O'Neill ("Modern Family"), Judd Hirsch ("The Goldbergs"), Laurence Fishburne ("Black-ish") and two-time Tony winner John Cullum, who will once again bring his understated presence to the role of perplexed Gramps on "The Middle" when he finds himself playing baby-sitter to Brick. 7 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5

Tree huggers

"Christmas in Rockefeller Center," which has been presented live in recent years, honors the holidays by stringing up 30,000 lights and welcoming some of NBC's biggest stars, which means somebody make sure James Spader doesn't do anything wicked to the punch bowl. 7 p.m. KARE, Ch. 11

The great depression

"You're the Worst," a sitcom that initially tested our level of empathy for L.A.'s most self-serving couple, took a decisive turn in its second year with a unfiltered story line concerning a main character's battle with clinical depression. While both the sitcom and actress Aya Cash have had to sacrifice some laughs, the show deserves props for exploring a common disorder that rarely gets explored on TV. For that alone, Cash deserves serious consideration during Emmy season. 9:30 p.m. FXX
