New York state of mind

For "Public Morals," a police/gangster drama set in 1960s New York, Ed Burns directed, wrote, appeared in and provided back rubs for the entire crew. Think "Boardwalk Empire" but with tamer language. Michael Rapaport co-stars with a hat he stole from Popeye Doyle. 9 p.m. TNT

Rocky Mountain high

When a chimichanga just won't do, it's time to take a "Taco Trip" with Aaron Sanchez, who starts Season 2 of this salsa-flavored series with a trip to Denver — we can only assume that all shells are first soaked overnight in Coors beer. 9 p.m. Cooking Channel

Party favors

Those seeking tips for the ultimate birthday bash should look no further than "My Fab 40th," a series that gives new meaning to the word "extravagant." I'm sure some great ideas will be provided, but I'd be wary of advice from guest stars Lorenzo Lamas and Al Sharpton. 9 p.m. Bravo
