Tourism group unveils new tools to lure visitors here

There's a new logo in town and it's designed to pull more visitors to Minneapolis.

Meet Minneapolis, the city-backed convention and tourism agency, Thursday introduced a logo that emphasizes the city's natural beauties as a come-on to visitors. The tagline "city by nature" will be used with the logo.They're accompanied by a new web site that's intended to be easier for potential visitors to use. It's located at: www2.minneapolis.org/ The new effort was announced at the Crystal Court of the IDS Center by Mayor R.T. Rybak, Meet Minneapolis chief Melvin Tennant and people from the city's hospitality industry. Meet Minneapolis also debuted a social media-based "virtual destination tour" of well-known local locations such as the IDS Center, Minneapolis Convention Center, the Stone Arch Bridge, the Guthrie Theater and Target Field.
People can "quick response" codes found at these sites with smart phone apps that lead them to video content about the iconic destination. More locations will be added later.
