National Trails Day events Saturday for hikers, cyclists, trail users

Myriad events happening across Minnesota. Many are hikes, some involve rolling.

Saturday is National Trails Day, a single day devoted to connecting users with all the trail possibilities in their area whether they are new or regular visitors. There are related trail events across Minnesota. Find some at American Hiking Society's website. A sampling:

Fergus Falls: North Country Trail (NCT) grand opening celebration, Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, 1-5 p.m. Saturday, official opening of the 9.8-mile NCT loop within the city, scheduled hikes, bit.ly/nctday

Inver Grove Heights: Trail hike (about 2 miles), Harmon Park Reserve, 10 a.m. Saturday, register at invergroveheights.org or 651-450-2585

Fridley: Third annual Bike & Hike, Riverview Heights Park, 9 a.m. Saturday
