We don't write alot about the charity work that happens in the real estate community, and there's a lot of it, but when that work gets recognized at a national level, it's worth a mention. Dave Philp, an agent for the Coldwell Banker Burnet office in Chaska, has helped raise millions of dollars for a west-metro non-profit and was recently recognized for those efforts by the National Association of Realtors, which named him one of five "Good Neighbors" and will reward his work with a $10,000 grant for the charity and a $2,000 gift card from Lowe's.

Over the past 25 years Philp has helped supprt the Ridgeview Foundation by raising more than $3 million dollars for the Ridgeview Foundation, which supports the Ridgeview Medical Center in the western suburbs. He does it through golf tournaments and other annual events including an event called the Golf and Taste Celebration, which he started in 1985. This year alone that single event raised almost $1 million, and those efforts will help fund a hospice home at Ridgeview. Philp has been selling real estate more more than 30 years and he specializes in the western suburbs.

Philp will pick up the award and a crystal trophy on Saturday at NAR's annual conference and expo in New Orleans, which is expected to draw more than 20,000 Realtors from around the country.
