On the anniversary of 9/11, Twin Cities Muslims will be taking part in a nation-wide campaign called "Muslim Serve." This project assumes an added significance in view of the hate rallies planned by Islamophobes at Ground Zero and burning of the Qur'an planned at a Florida church on 9/11. Several Twin Cities mosques including the Islamic Center of Minnesota, Masjid An-Nur, Masjid Abu-Khadra, Masjid Ar-Rahman, Dar Al-Hijrah, and Northwest Islamic Cultural Center will be holding an inter-faith prayer service in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. 1401 Gardena Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55432 Muslim Community Outreach (MCO) will be holding a soup-kitchen on September 16 at the Hope Church in Richfield. Rochester Muslim Community Circle (RMCC) is working with the local mosque and Muslim owned grocery stores, to collect food for local channel one. RMCC members also plan to volunteer in several local projects to serve the needy. "MuslimServe" is a project inspired by the Islamic values that encourage Muslims to serve humanity. As part of this project, American Muslims nationwide will be participating in 9/11 commemoration events taking place in their cities, volunteering at local homeless shelters or food pantries, cleaning up a local parks, highways or beaches, and bringing donations of food and/or toys to soup kitchens or homeless shelters. Last year, American Muslims took part in more than 3,500 community service projects all around the country as part of President Obama's "United We Serve" campaign.
