Minnesota State Moorhead officials announced they have set a goal of raising $37 million for an endowment to fund the addition of NCAA Division I hockey.

University President Edna Szymanski confirmed Friday that 40 percent of the goal has been committed, and she said she is optimistic that the target will be reached.

The Minnesota State College and Universities Board of Trustees has to approve MSUM's plan.

WCHA wants Northern Michigan backThe WCHA, which was going to shrink to five teams in the 2013-14 season, said it will formally approve Northern Michigan's request for admission next week. The Wildcats, members of the CCHA now, were in the WCHA from 1984 to 1997.

Officials from Alaska Anchorage, Bemidji State, Michigan Tech, Minnesota State Mankato and St. Cloud State met Friday in St. Paul to address their future.
