MSU-Mankato scored runs in the fourth and sixth innings and got a four-hitter from Jason Hoppe en route to a 2-0 victory over Grand Valley State in the opening round of the NCAA Division II baseball tournament in Cary, N.C. on Saturday.

The Mavericks (39-8) scored on RBIs from leadoff man Parker Sullivan and Mike Andries. Hoppe struck out seven and lowered his season ERA to 0.93.

MSU-Mankato stays in the winners bracket and will face Franklin Pierce University at 4 p.m. on Monday. The Ravens (36-17) defeated Shippensburg 1-0 on Saturday.
