Nothing may be more intimidating than arriving at the sprawling Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a clue as to where to go to check in for your flight, drop your bags and get through security.
Arriving passengers unfamiliar with MSP might want some help finding the right baggage carousel and where to find their ground transportation.
The Airport Foundation MSP is recruiting volunteers to share "Minnesota Nice" with passengers passing through the ticketing and baggage claim areas. They staff information booths, escort elderly veterans and young unaccompanied minors, and take oxygen tanks to various gates for arriving travelers among other things.
MSP Navigators, as they are known, must be 18, able to stand and walk for four-hour shifts and communicate clearly, the posting says. Knowing a second language is not, but it's definitely are a plus.
Shifts at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 run from 5 to 9 a.m., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. Volunteers must commit to working eight hours a month.
Volunteers must pass a 10-year background check and complete 36 hours of training. Applications are www.airportfoundation.org.
