MSHSL official Voigt to retire

January 23, 2015 at 8:42PM

Howard Voigt, the Minnesota State High School League director of information for 25 years, will retire Jan. 31.

A journalism major at the University of Wisconsin, Voigt worked in multiple media platforms in Florida and Wyoming early in his career and then was the Shakopee school district's first communications coordinator before joining the high school league in 1989.

"Howard's character and ethics in sharing information from the high school league to the media and others was incredible," said David Stead, the high school league's executive director. "He will truly be missed."

Stead said plans to replace Voigt have not been finalized. His duties at the upcoming winter state tournaments will be spread out among league staff, Stead said.
