Three Minneapolis teachers have been announced as newly certified in their fields by the National Board for Professional Teacher Standards
All were certified in the area of English as a new language. James Kindle and Kaitlin Lindsey, were certified for the early and middle childhood level; and Heather McKerrow, for early adolescence through young adulthood. Kindle and Lindsey teach at Anne Sulivan school, while McKerrow is at Wellstone High School.
The number of newly certified board teachers rose from only one certified in the district last year. Minnepaolis leads the state with 49 teachers having achieved certification, but both it and second-ranking St. Paul, which added only one board teacher this year, are losing ground to the Minnetonka district, which added five additional board-certified teachers in each of the past two years.
