Police on Thursday identified the two people who were shot — with one suffering a critical wound — during an altercation south of downtown Minneapolis.

The incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment building in the 1500 block of Park Avenue S., police said.

The victims showed up at nearby Hennepin County Medical Center in what turned out to be a vehicle stolen from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to police.

Ricardio D. Smith, 46, was shot in the stomach, initially reported to be in critical condition but showing signs of improvement, police Sgt. Catherine Michal said late Thursday morning.

Agatha G. Dixon, 36, was shot in the left arm, police added.

Authorities have seized the stolen vehicle and have interviewed several witnesses.
