Kid's show songs and such

As I previously wrote here I am training for my second Iron Girl duathlon at the end of the month.

On a recent (and rare) date night my husband and I were having a conversation about what we think about when we run. Peter, who's an avid runner, said he concentrates on his breathing, his form, and how he's feeling. A very focused guy .

Me? My mind wanders and meanders when I run or bike.

I think about my to-do list, potential blog topics (of course), our kids and I often have little blurbs of dialogue or songs from their favorite movies or books looping through my head when I'm working out.

I'll hear the voice of that cocky red race car Lightning McQueen declaring confidently in the opening scene of Cars.

"Speed. I am speed. I eat losers for breakfast. "

For me, the reality is. "Slow. I am slow. I eat waffles for breakfast."

Then, I'll hear the persistent Dorie in Finding Nemo "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming."

I change it to "Just keep running. Just keep running."

And I'll dip into the holidays and think of that song from Santa Claus is Coming to Town - "Put one foot in front of the other..."

And you can't forget the earworm of all earworms from Madagascar -" I like to move it move it!"

Or I'll break down the run around the lake into three parts, kind of like Dora the Explorer's map.

Long slow hill.

Wooden bridge.

Finish Line. Lo hicimos! We did, we did it - hooray!

Pedaling up an intimidating hill on my bike I think of The Little Engine That Could. "I think I can. I think I can."

But I've done this race before and change the script to." I know I can! I know I can!"

And that makes all of the difference.
