Movies opening Friday

Alice Through the Looking Glass (PG) Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).

Hockney (not rated) Artist David Hockney takes the filmmakers on a tour of his studio.

The Idol (not rated) A dramatization of the rags-to-redemption story of Mohammed Assaf, the first Palestinian singer to win "Arab Idol."

Love & Friendship (PG) A titled British woman (Kate Beckinsale) is determined to be a matchmaker for her host's daughter. Based on Jane Austen's "Lady Susan."

Weiner (R) An examination of disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner's mayoral campaign and today's political landscape.

Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe (not rated) This documentary alleges the CDC covered up a link between vaccines and autism.

X-Men: Apocalypse (PG-13) The X-Men unite to defeat the world's first mutant, Apocalypse, after his re-emergence.
