Mound fire victim is identified

Authorities have identified the woman who died in a fire at a Mound apartment building last week as Elizabeth M. Maldonado, 61.

Authorities have identified the woman who died in a fire at a Mound apartment building last week as Elizabeth M. Maldonado, 61.

She died of smoke inhalation, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said.

The fire was reported about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 12 in Grandview Terrace Apartments in the 5600 block of Grandview Blvd.

Officials went door to door to check on other residents and get them out of the building.

Maldonado was found dead at the scene. She lived in a first-floor apartment.
