Motorcyclist overtaking truck is killed in Scott County crash

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night after colliding with a truck in Spring Lake Township, the Scott County Sheriff's Office said.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was heading south on Panama Avenue near 190th Street about 7:55 p.m. and attempted to pass a truck. While passing that vehicle in the northbound lane, the motorcyclist was struck by a northbound vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the motorcycle was not hurt.

The State Patrol and the Scott County Sheriff's Office are investigating.

So far 303 people have died in crashes on state roads compared to 324 at this time last year, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
