May 23, 2015 at 2:54AM

A motorcyclist was killed Friday in a collision with a deer on Hwy. 52, the State Patrol said.

The accident investigation had Hwy. 52 closed in the area for a time but it has since reopened, KAAL-TV was reporting.

The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. near Hwy. 63 on the northern edge of Rochester. The motorcyclist was headed south and "was unable to avoid colliding with a deer that crossed the roadway," the patrol said.

The driver of the 2009 Harley-Davidson was a 40-year-old man from Rochester, the patrol said. He was taken to St. Marys Hospital and later died. His name was to be released Saturday morning.
