Motorcyclist killed in crash near Mall of America is ID'd

The crash occurred about 8:25 p.m. Friday on Ikea Way. That's just north of the Mall of America.

A motorcyclist crashed shortly after dark this weekend on a road close to the Mall of America, and the rider died on the way to the hospital, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 8:25 p.m. Friday on Ikea Way, just north of Lindau Lane, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office. That's just north of the Mall of America.

Killed was Cesar I. Canton, 33, of Minneapolis, the medical examiner's office said.

Canton died in the ambulance about 10 minutes after the crash, the examiner's office added.

Authorities have yet to release any details about the crash.
