The motorcyclist who was shot by an Eden Prairie police officer early Saturday after a brief chase along Eden Prairie Road has left the hospital and is now in jail, authorities said Sunday.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident, said the officer started a brief pursuit of a fleeing motorcycle around 3 a.m.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lisa Kiava said investigators are looking into a report that the officer's gun accidentally discharged after the chase ended at Eden Prairie Road and South Lund Road.

The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Eden Prairie man, was described in dispatch audio as driving a motorcycle with Missouri plates. He suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm.

The Sheriff's Office said the man is in custody on suspicion of felony fleeing an officer.
