A 50-year-old woman from Grand Forks, N.D., was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon when her motorcycle hit a pickup truck north of Duluth on the North Shore, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Hwy. 61 when it struck the passenger side of a southbound 2007 Chevy Silverado preparing to take a left turn into a driveway near Loop Road. The crash happened at 1:43 p.m., the patrol said.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, where she died. Her name has not yet been released.

The driver of the Chevy, Daniel A. Schutte, 56, and passenger Austin Schutte, 13, both of Castalia, Iowa, were not hurt. Both were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor, the patrol said.
