Motorcyclist dies from collision in Columbia Heights

A motorcyclist who collided with a car in a Columbia Heights intersection has died, authorities said Thursday.

The crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on July 9 at Central and 44th Avenues NE., according to the State Patrol.

Jason E. Leduc, 23, of St. Cloud, died Tuesday night at Hennepin County Medical Center, the medical examiner's office said. He was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said.

According to the patrol:

Leduc was northbound on Central and collided with a car turning left from southbound Central onto 44th. The impact sent the motorcycle into a pickup truck.

Escaping without injury were the car's driver, Abhisek Mukerjee, 31, and passenger Pon B. Palaniappan, 26, both of St. Anthony, and pickup driver Allen K. Ciesynski, 48, and son Ryan J. Ciesynski, 15, both of Columbia Heights.
