A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he lost control while negotiating a curve in Anoka County.

The motorcyclist was traveling near the area of 237th Avenue NW. and Kumquat Street NW. in Bethel about 7 p.m. when he lost control, struck a sign and landed in a ditch, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

The man's name is being withheld until his family is notified.

Earlier this week, two people died in a crash in southern Minnesota, pushing the number of motorcycle fatalities in Minnesota to 30 so far this riding season. Ten of those have occurred since June 13. At this time last season, there were 17 motorcycle fatalities. The Wednesday incident is being investigated by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
