With the amount of acting Mos Def has done lately (in film and on Broadway), you might expect the acclaimed MC's first appearance on the Guthrie Theater's stage to be a theatrical production. Nope, he'll be rapping.
Tickets for Mos Def's Aug. 23 performance on the Wurtele Thrust stage are now on sale. Promoter Sue McLean is presenting the show.
The Guthrie has a history with hip-hop. The theater hosted a series of successful hip-hop shows in May featuring Dessa, Toki Wright, Maria Isa, M.anifest and other Twin Cities artists.
Ticket info: 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23, $46-$48. 612-377-2224. www.guthrietheater.org.
