DETROIT -- Twins first baseman Justin Morneau left Tuesday night's game against the Tigers with back stiffness. The Twins said the move was precautionary.

Morneau was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and stranded five men on base against Tigers starter Justin Verlander.

He missed the final 3 1/2 weeks last season with a stress fracture in his lower back.
