More Damaging Winds to Howl

Yet another episode of strong winds will target Southern California and Arizonatoday into tonight. So far, damage caused by the winds has been the deadlyaspect of this current storm onslaught.One of the deaths occurred Tuesday afternoon northeast of San Diego when gustywinds knocked a large tree onto a mobile home. The woman inside was killed.

The strongest winds through tonight will blast the mountains and coast. LosAngeles and Phoenix could be subject to gusts of 60 mph or higher, especiallyin any thunderstorm. Winds of this magnitude could lead to more downed trees,power outages and property damage. As evident by Tuesday's death, falling treescould cause death or bodily harm.

Strong winds pose dangers to travelers. The winds could overturn or steersemi-trucks and campers off roadways. The winds will also combine with buryingsnowfall to make travel virtually impossible in the mountains. If you musttravel, please know that you run a risk of becoming stuck or stranded. Be sureto pack a winter survival kit. Airline passengers should prepare for lengthydelays.
