Weather extremes are common this time of year. Southern latitudes are warmingrapidly while very cold air still resides across the north. These largetemperature differences often trigger a bit of storminess.During the next few days, there are two storms worth our attention. The firstis unfolding across the northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest. Much colder airentering the northern flank of this disturbance will cause rain to change tosnow in places like Seattle and Portland Wednesday and a small accumulation ispossible.
Thursday, another storm will develop across the southern Plains. That systemwill produce a substantial amount of rain and perhaps some flooding fromArkansas to Virginia. Snow from this storm will fall along and north of a linefrom Indianapolis, Ind., to Boston, Mass., and there could be several inches.
