Monticello vs. Rogers: Keys to the game

October 26, 2016 at 5:16AM

Key of the game: Monticello didn't fold as Rogers converted a fake field-goal attempt for a third-quarter touchdown pass. The play cut the Magic lead to 14-12. But it responded on the ensuing drive as Ryder Beckman got loose for a 66-yard touchdown run and 21-12 lead Monticello never relinquished.

The quote: "That was all the Silverbacks. I didn't get touched. I just ran." — Beckman, crediting his 43- and 66-yard touchdown runs to his offensive linemen, who nicknamed themselves after the strongest and meanest of the gorillas.

One thing to know: Rogers' offense regrouped after a first half that saw the Royals commit two turnovers and turn over the ball twice on downs. Tanner Palm and company shined on a 95-yard fourth-quarter touchdown drive.
