The last Gophers football coach who did not begin 0-2 in Big Ten competition was Jim Wacker, when his team beat Illinois before losing its next six games in 1992. The five men to hold the job after Wacker lost their third conference game as well.
Sam Bradford is allegedly going to play Monday night (7:30 p.m., ESPN and Ch. 4), and Teddy Bridgewater is on his way back. All of a sudden, the Vikings seem to have too many quarterbacks! What a problem to have.
