Sooners take down eighth-ranked Cowboys

NORMAN, OKLA. – Ryan Spangler had 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds to help No. 23 Oklahoma defeat No. 8 Oklahoma State 88-76 on Monday night.

Jordan Woodard scored 18 points and reserve Tyler Neal added a season-high 15 points for the host Sooners (17-4, 6-2 Big 12), who claimed their third victory over a ranked conference opponent this season.

Marcus Smart had 22 points, Phil Forte scored 20 points and made all six of his three-point tries and Markel Brown added 18 points for the Cowboys (16-4, 4-3).

OSU's Le'Bryan Nash, who scored a career-high 29 points against West Virginia on Saturday, fouled out with eight points in 17 minutes.

It was the first time both teams have entered a "Bedlam" rivalry game ranked since 2005. The rematch is Feb. 15 at Oklahoma State.

HIGHLIGHTS

• DUKE PULLS AWAY FROM PITT: Jabari Parker scored 21 points and No. 17 Duke pulled away from No. 18 and host Pittsburgh 80-65. The Blue Devils (17-4, 6-2 ACC) made 13 of 25 three-point attempts against the Panthers (18-3, 6-2).

• HOYAS GO DOWN AGAIN: No. 9 Villanova (18-2, 7-1 Big East) prevailed 65-60 in a foul-plagued game at Georgetown (11-9, 3-6), the Hoyas' fifth loss in a row.

• IRISH WOMEN EDGE TERRAPINS: No. 2 Notre Dame lost a 22-point lead and had to scramble for an 87-83 victory over No. 8 and host Maryland. Jewell Loyd scored 31 points for the Irish (19-0, 6-0 ACC). Maryland fell to 16-3, 4-2 in the conference.

• PURDUE PREVAILS: Courtney Moses scored 22 points as No. 19 Purdue beat Illinois for the sixth consecutive time, 80-68.
