pick of the week Whoopi Goldberg's 1992 comedy "Sister Act" was such a hit that Hollywood rushed through a by-the-numbers sequel that was released a year later. When the folks at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres decided to revisit the success they had with the stage version of "Sister Act" in 2015, they wisely decided to forget about "Sister Act 2" and focus on remounting their earlier production. Most of the original cast is back, including Regina Marie Williams, the Ivey Award-winning singer-actress who again is lending her powerful voice to psuedo-sister Deloris Van Cartier. Also reprising her role is Norah Long, whose earlier turn as Mother Superior was singled out by Star Tribune critic Graydon Royce as one of the year's best performances. The show opens Friday and runs through Feb. 24. (952-934-1525; chanhassendt.com)
Cheat sheet: Consider this the first of about 200 alerts you'll get this week that daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning, so we should set our clocks back an hour before we go to bed Saturday night. Many of us still will forget and get up an hour early, but at least we can use the time we gain to try to figure out how to reset the clock on the microwave.
