A woman critically injured in a Carver County house fire Saturday morning has died from her injuries, according to Watertown Fire Chief Wade Stock.

Tia Nustad, 33, died after being transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Her two children — Tyler, 11, and Layla, 3 — were found dead in the family's home in Watertown Township, Stock said, about 40 minutes west of Minneapolis.

By the time officers arrived about 2:20 a.m., the house already was engulfed in flames, police said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, Stock said.

A GoFundMe page had raised more than $6,500 by Sunday night to cover the family's expenses.

In 2015, there were 57 fire-related deaths in Minnesota, compared with 44 in 2014, according to data from the state fire marshal. So far in 2016, the total is less than half of 2014's.
