Mitchell absent

DE Jayme Mitchell was the only player not on the field as the Vikings started practice today.

Defensive end Jayme Mitchell was the only Vikings player who wasn't on the field today as practice started. Mitchell practiced Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully, we'll get an update later this afternoon from coach Brad Childress.

One other item of note. As the defense went through its drills, Benny Sapp was at left cornerback with the first team and Antoine Winfield was looking on. Winfield, who has missed the past three games because of a foot injury, has been limited in practice this week.

The injury report will come out later this afternoon so we'll see what Winfield's status is listed as for Sunday's game against Seattle.
