A 30-year-old Twin Cities man with bipolar disorder who had been missing since last Sunday was hospitalized Saturday after being found in Oakdale, law enforcement officials said.
Chris Simondet was found about 10:30 p.m. Friday near the Denny's restaurant just off Interstate 94 and Hwy. 120, according to Lt. Eric Roeske of the State Patrol.
Authorities received reports of a person trying to wave down traffic who turned out to be Simondet.
He resisted being arrested by troopers and a Washington County sheriff's deputy, and the deputy used a Taser to subdue him, Roeske said. Simondet was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment and evaluation.
Simondet was found a day after his brother's dog, Diesel, which he'd been walking in St. Louis Park when he disappeared, was located at a Bloomington animal shelter, according to his brother, Matthew Simondet.
Family members said that Simondet had recently gone off his medication. He and Diesel were spotted several times around the Twin Cities during the time they were gone, and volunteers had conducted intensive searches.
