Law enforcement called off a search for a missing person along the Minnesota River in the Shakopee area shortly after 2:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

The search began after 11 p.m. Wednesday after a man reported that his son had not come home from fishing. Officials said later that they weren't sure the son had gone fishing.

A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was used to comb the area until about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The sheriff's department, Shakopee police and other emergency responders stayed on still on the scene a bit longer.

Officials aren't releasing the name, age or other information about the missing individual, but say the investigation continues.
