Minnetonka, Warroad draw top seeds for girls' hockey tournament

The Skippers will be trying to win their third consecutive state championship.

Minnetonka and Warroad drew the top seeds for next week's girls' state hockey tournament at Xcel Energy Center.

The tournament begins Wednesday with quarterfinal games in Class 1A. Quarterfinals for Class 2A are Thursday, with semifinals in both classes on Friday and championship games on Saturday.

Class 2A seeds and pairings:

No. 2 Eden Prairie (20-5-3) vs Forest Lake (15-10-2), 11 a.m.

No. 3 Hill-Murray (19-5-4) vs Eagan (18-9-1), 30 minutes after completion of previous game

No. 1 Minnetonka (24-4) vs Irondale (19-8-1), 6 p.m.

No. 4 Lakeville North (20-6-2) vs 5 North Wright County (23-4-1), 30 minutes after completion of previous game

Class 1A seeds and pairings:

No. 2 Red Wing (25-2) vs Alexandria (19-6-2), 11 a.m.

No. 3 Blake (19-5-3) vs Mound-Westonka (19-7-1), 30 minutes after completion of previous game

No. 1 Warroad (24-2-1) vs New Ulm (14-11-1), 6 p.m.

No. 4 South St. Paul (17-7-3) vs 5 Hibbing/Chisholm (18-9), 30 minutes after completion of previous game
