Mark Raquet, Minnetonka's police chief since 2007, has announced that he will retire May 31.
"Mark has been dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of excellence for his department," City Manager Geralyn Barone said in a news release. "He's emphasized safety, community connections and greater transparency. We're very sad to see him leave and wish him only the best in his retirement."
Raquet, 55, has been with the department for 29 years. He started as a patrol officer, then was promoted to sergeant, lieutenant and captain before being appointed chief.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University and a master's degree from Concordia University. He also completed the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., an invitation-only professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders.
There was no word on who might replace him.
