Move over Zombie Pub Crawl. On the same day as that massive gathering of ridiculous like-minded people, another mega-event is happening in Blaine. And this one also has the goal of setting a world record.

The so-called "Great Minnesota Nerf Battle" takes place 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Blaine's National Sports Center (1700 105th Av. NE., on the soccer fields) with hopes of breaking the record for the largest Nerf gun war. Yes, there is such a thing. The current Guinness world record is 2,289 participants in 2016 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (officially that record is dubbed "world's largest toy pistol fight").

The Blaine battle is for a good cause. The organizer, Project My Neighborhood, wants to raise awareness of bullying (October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month). The event is free but they are asking for a donation of $10. Money raised will go to PACER, the advocacy group for children with disabilities and bullying prevention.

Take a look at a past Nerf battle hosted by Project My Neighborhood near U.S. Bank Stadium:

Adults and children are welcome in this Blaine nerf war. Hundreds of nerf guns will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own too. Read more about the specs on this battle here.

And here's a look at the current world record holder out of Texas:
