Walz, Ellison, McCollum lock up Minnesota seats in Congress

District 1

Walz edges Hagedorn

Incumbent Democratic Rep. Tim Walz slipped past Republican Jim Hagedorn Tuesday night in the First Congressional District. . Walz serves on the powerful Veterans Affairs Committee.

District 4

Incumbent McCollum wins ninth term

Democratic Rep. Betty McCollum will return to Washington representing St. Paul for a ninth term. She ran against Republican Greg Ryan. Though in the minority, McCollum has a high-ranking spot on the House Appropriations Committee.

District 5

Ellison re-elected to sixth term

Rep. Keith Ellison overwhelmingly won his Minneapolis district, beating Republican challenger Frank Drake. This is Ellison's sixth two-year term, and he is co-chair of the Progressive Caucus.

District 6

Emmer expected to win a second term

Republican Rep. Tom Emmer is expected to return to Congress for a second term, defeating Democratic challenger David Snyder. Emmer serves on House Financial Services Committee and has been a rare GOP advocate on breaking the Cuban trade embargo.

District 7

Peterson leading Hughes in Seventh

Rep. Collin Peterson was comfortably leading Republican David Hughes in the red-tilting Seventh. Peterson is the lead author of the current Farm Bill and the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee.
