The Vikings will be without tight end Josh Oliver (foot), fullback C.J. Ham (hand) and cornerback Jeff Okudah (concussion) for Sunday’s game with the Lions in Detroit.
Four others are questionable: Left tackle Christian Darrisaw (knee), right tackle Brian O’Neill (knee), outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (neck) and safety Josh Metellus (foot), who coach Kevin O’Connell said had some foot soreness pop up Friday.
Darrisaw, who exited after two offensive series against the Chargers last week, and Metellus were limited practice participants Friday. O’Neill, who missed the Chargers game, and Van Ginkel, who hasn’t played since Week 3, were full participants.
O’Connell said there would be discussion as to whether Van Ginkel would be on a snap count if he indeed plays against the Lions. He has been a full participant in practice all week.
“With our defense as a whole, one of the things we were pretty excited about is the depth we did have, and getting back a little closer to that original picture, especially in the front seven,” O’Connell said. “What it looks like could be based on situation, down and distance or as the game kind of goes and the dialogue with the players and the medical staff, but I think he’s full, he’s ready to go.”
The Lions will be without safety Kerby Joseph (knee), running back Craig Reynolds (hamstring) and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (knee). Tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder/rest), defensive back Avonte Maddox (hamstring), running back Sione Vaki (groin) and safety Daniel Thomas (forearm) are questionable.
