Minnesota United forward Abu Danladi finishes second in MLS rookie of the year voting

Loons forward Abu Danladi, a 22-year-old from Ghana, finished a distant second in the voting for Major League Soccer's Rookie of the Year. Danladi, who scored eight goals in 27 games, received an average of 8 percent of the vote in balloting by players, media and club management.

He played for UCLA and was the No 1 overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft.

Atlanta midfielder Julian Gressel won the award. The 23-year-old German, selected with the eighth overall pick this year after playing at Providence, had five goals and nine assists in 32 games. He received an average of 54 percent of the vote.
