MINNESOTA STATE FAIR ATTENDANCE: EVERY BODY COUNTS
The State Fair always gets a good crowd, but exactly how many people go each day? Here are this year's attendance figures, along with a few from previous years. The all-time busiest day at the fair was its second Saturday in 2010, when 234,384 people packed the grounds.
Thursday, Aug. 25: 101,658, compared with 119,145 last year and 114, 439 in 2009. That 2010 number set a record for first-day attendance.
Friday, Aug. 26: 123,735, compared with 132,738 last year and 124,991 in 2009. The 2010 number set a record for second-day attendance.
Saturday, Aug. 27: 177,166, compared with 175,621 last year and 189,077 in 2009. The record for first-Saturday attendance was set in 1998, when 202,126 people came to the fair.
Sunday, Aug. 28: 171,689, compared with 165,784 last year and 191,071 in 2009. The record for first-Sunday attendance is 209,969, set in 1994.
Monday, Aug. 29: 124,538, compared with 113,637 last year and 131,705 in 2009. The record for first-Monday attendance is 143,998, set in 1994.
Tuesday, Aug. 30: 99,747, compared with 105,848 last year and 129,423 in 2009, which set a record for Tuesday attendance.
Wednesday, Sept. 1: 111,891, compared with 126,823 in 2010 and 110,931 in 2009. The record for Wednesday attendance is 128,966, set in 2006.
