Ex-prep coach, AD dies
Former Spring Lake Park and White Bear Lake football coach Bob Jackson died suddenly Saturday at his home in White Bear Lake. He was 64.
Jackson had a 214-141 career record in 35 seasons. He led Spring Lake Park to the Class A state title in 1991. He became the White Bear Lake coach in 1993 and also was the school's athletic director for 12 years.
"He was a great builder of young men," former North Branch coach Nick Nitti said. "He didn't lower the bar for anyone."
After stepping down as the White Bear Lake football coach in 2011, he served as an assistant coach at North Branch for three seasons and Spring Lake Park for one. Last fall, he helped Wayzata football coach Lambert Brown, a former player of his.
