Olivia Herrick of Dellwood Country Club defeated Christine Portillo of Olympic Hills Golf Club in 20 holes in the semifinals of Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) Women's Amateur Match Play Championship at Faribault Golf Course.
Herrick is the defending champion and the top seed.
Taylor Ledwein of New Prague Golf Club won the other semifinal, defeating Haley Tollette of Rum River Hills Golf Club 5 and 4.
Aldrich ends Klasse's title run
In the semifinals of the MGA Senior Amateur Match Play at Faribault GC, Betsy Aldrich of Woodhill upset Leigh Klasse of Keller Golf Club 2 and 1 and Lynn Anderson of Keller GC beat Brenda Williams of Windsong Farm in 19 holes.
Klasse was the six-time defending champion. The last time she didn't win this tournament was in 2011 when she finished second to Williams.
Champ reaches MGA Players semifinals
Defending champion Jacques Wilson of Chaska Town Course defeated Tyler Obermueller of Stoneridge Golf Club in the quarterfinals in the 40th Minnesota Golf Association Players' Championship at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
Among other winners were Ben Greve, the two-time defending State Open champion from Olympic Hills Golf Club, who beat Michael Schmitz of The Bridges 3 and 2, and Sammy Schmitz of Stoneridge GC who won 4 and 2 over Matt Lutz of Rush Creek Golf Club. Schmitz was the 2015 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion.
In the fourth quarterfinal, Parker Reddig of Hiawatha Golf Club edged Andrew Israelson of The Vintage at Staples on the 21st hole.
