Minnesota Scene: All-star prep football game on Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium

Minnesota high school seniors will compete in the 45th annual all-star football game at 3 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The game between South and North teams will be televised on Ch. 9. The North team's coaching staff will be led by Scott Gonnerman of Benson while Dan Fritze of East Ridge will head the South coaching staff.

It's the second consecutive year that the game has been played at the Vikings stadium after the recently completed high school season.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for youth ages 13 to 17. Children age 12 and under will be admitted free.

Proceeds will go to the Minnesota Football Coaches Association and the Tackle Cancer Campaign.

The game will be the culmination of several activities, including youth football clinics, autographs with former Vikings and performances by marching bands and cheer and dance teams.

She's in Curtis Cup mix

Michigan State senior Sarah Burnham of Maple Grove will be one of 12 golfers participating in a practice session in advance of the 2018 Curtis Cup Match.

It will be Dec. 17-18 at Shoal Creek, Ala., and afterward eight players will be named to the U.S. team.

The 40th Curtis Cup Match, a biennial event against a team from Great Britain and Ireland, will be June 8-10, 2018, at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y.

• Midfielder Emily Heslin and defender Emily Peterson will be the captains for the Gophers women's soccer team next season. Both will be seniors. Heslin was a captain this past season as well.

• The Gophers' athletic department's first holiday winter auction began Friday. It feature a cross-section of signed items, game-worn apparel, and other pieces exclusively available only on z.umn.edu/holidayauction. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Gopher Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.

• St. Thomas goalie Benjamin Myers was named to D3hockey.com's men' hockey team of the week while Kenzie Torpy, another Tommies goalie, and Hamline forward Bre Simon were named to the website's women's hockey team of the week.
