Mariah is a teen whose broad interests include photography, technology, social work and the law. English, math and biology are her favorite subjects, and she has immersed herself in "Mercy," a novel about a girl with super powers. She is also a capable debater, and if that weren't enough, Mariah relishes the role of defender when playing basketball. It's a craft she takes tremendous pride in and finds the challenge of "protecting the paint" invigorating.
Minnesota's Waiting Child

Mariah has an extensive travel wish list — San Francisco, Los Angeles, Florida – and hopes to find work that provides those opportunities. Going to college is Mariah's first priority.
An adoptive parent, to Mariah, is an adult who isn't afraid of trying new things and who will take time to get to know more about her and her interests. She doesn't mind chores, such as cleaning her own bath/bedroom or taking the garbage out, or curfews. Cigarette smoke irritates her and access to daily alcohol use is a "deal breaker." A sense of humor is appealing to Mariah because she has a good one herself. She prefers to talk out disagreements in a calm, civil manner, and thinks she's up to the task of being a better listener. Discussing feelings along with the action(s) in question is a plus.
Mariah would like an adoptive parent(s) who is a huge dog lover, but she says with a chuckle: "Cats are strictly prohibited."
