Eleven-year-old Talondre is curious and perceptive. His charm, energy and smile tend to earn him the attention of others. People who know Talondre well describe him as "funny and playful, engaging and sweet." He cares deeply for others, particularly his siblings and caregivers, although his empathy is evident even with strangers. Talondre is an active kid who loves to play with the neighbors and go to the park. He's looking forward to lots of bike riding this summer.

Talondre is so ready to move into a family. He recently moved into a foster home, which, for him, was almost as good as getting a permanent family. He jumped right into his new setting — attending basketball games, making friends and going to church with his foster mom. With all this change, Talondre has made much progress in learning to process his emotions and his past in healthier ways.

Patient, knowledgeable and understanding parents are essential for Talondre. He needs a permanent family committed to birth sibling relationships. Most of all, Talondre desperately needs to know that he is wanted, that he belongs and that he is ultimately with people who will not give up on him.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
